  • How often do I need to replace the filters?
    • Aunty Jane, Every Breath - 02 Nov 2006

The filter life will vary dependant upon which unit you own, how clean your environment is, how often you run the unit, and at what speed. The IQAir units are unique in that the Control Panel will provide you with estimated filter life and will warn you when the filters need to be replaced.

  • Will this unit eliminate dust from my home?
    • Aunty Jane, Every Breath - 02 Nov 2006

Although the IQAir line is fantastic at dust removal in comparison to other units on the market - we like to set our customers expectations appropriately. These units will not totally eliminate dust from your environment - they will only reduce the amount of dust. Dust comes from so many different sources and oftentimes adheres to surfaces to which the dust comes in contact. Because of this, it is practically impossible to completely eliminate dust altogether.

  • Can a single air purifier cover multiple rooms?
    • Aunty Jane, Every Breath - 02 Nov 2006

All air purifiers that we are aware of are most effective in the room that they are operating in. As all of our units rely on air to pass through the unit in order to be cleaned - this will limit the area that can be effectively purified without creating a "tornado" in your home. You can expect excellent purification in the room the unit is placed in and some degree of purification in adjacent spaces depending on the amount of open air flow.

  • Are IQAir cleaners ozone free?
    • Aunty Jane, Every Breath - 02 Nov 2006

All IQAir air purifiers are 100% ozone-free. They are certified by the IAACM (International Association of Air Cleaner Manufacturers) to produce absolutely no ozone. Ozone is a lung irritant emitted from ionic and electronic air cleaners. Even small amounts of ozone are undesirable for allergy and asthma sufferers.

  • Do any hospitals use IQAir products?
    • Aunty Jane, Every Breath - 02 Nov 2006

Hospitals around the world rely on IQAir to help protect staff and patients from infectious diseases like tuberculosis and MRSA. When the dreaded disease SARS began to spread in Hong Kong hospitals in 2004, the Hong Kong Hospital Authority tested dozens of air cleaners and concluded that only the IQAir cleaners were suitable to be used in the fight against SARS. A recent study performed by a NHS trust demonstrated that an IQAir unit can help remove between 75% and 96% of airborne MRSA.

  • I am a smoker and have a young child at home. Will an IQAir product protect my son from breathing in my tobacco smoke?
    • Aunty Jane, Every Breath - 02 Nov 2006

The IQAir MultiGas GC unit is the best IQAir air cleaning system for the removal of Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS) as it uses multiple independent filter stages to remove ETS. The IQAir MultiGas GC device contains a large capacity, high-efficiency, particulate pre-filter to remove the vast majority of ETS particles (over 99%) immediately at the first filter stage. This high-efficiency pre-filtration is a key factor in the long term performance of the MultiGas GC. For gas, chemical and odour filtration, the system contains four substantial gas filter cartridges, which contain 12 lbs. (5 kg) of a broad-spectrum gas phase control media. Unlike conventional activated carbon filters, the MultiGas filter uses both physical and chemical filtration processes. As a result, more odors and gases are removed with a higher efficiency.

  • My 14 year old daughter has MCS. Which air purifier would you recommend and why?
    • Aunty Jane, Every Breath - 02 Nov 2006

In most MCS cases, the IQAir MultiGas GC unit is the best choice, because its wide spectrum gas phase filter is able to capture a wide array of gaseous chemicals. Other features of IQAir GC Series systems important to MCS sufferers are:

Contains no gaskets or sealants which leak chemicals The housing is made of fully cured, non-off-gasing premium ABS plastic The IQAir fan motor is located before the gas phase filter and before the particle post filter. The fan motor is varnish free. The gas filter is followed by a high-efficiency particulate post-filter that holds back any particles from the gas phase filter. The gas filter cartridges can be changed independently of the other filters in the air cleaner. This avoids cross contamination and allows for independent replacement. The gas phase filter is protected by a high-efficiency pre-filter against premature particle contamination.
